You’re planning one of the biggest moments of your life…
So… you’re planning a proposal?!
That is exciting, slightly terrifying, and brings with it a lot of pressure!
If you’ve decided on the Isle of Skye, then you’re already doing this very well.
But most people don’t think about the fact that a proposal isn’t just one moment. It’s a whole lot of emotion. There’s the build-up, the nerves, the panic of wondering “is this the right spot?!”
Then the THEY SAID YES excitement – and relief! And after that, everything that comes next when you’re both just… buzzing.
If you plan the whole trip properly, it doesn’t just feel like a proposal. It feels like the start of something new!

Book a Meal That Feels Like a Celebration
Go Big!
After you’ve just asked the question, your hands may still be shaking a bit. You’re both grinning like idiots.
And instead of standing there asking “what do we do now?” – you’ve already got somewhere amazing booked.
That way, once you’ve asked the question, you know where you are going next.
You’ll be able to walk in for an amazing meal, and flash that sparkly ring too!

Keep It Relaxed, If That’s Your StylE
Not everyone wants fancy. For some couples, relaxed is better. You want somewhere you can chill out while you send that photo to everyone. You can laugh about how nervous you were, and replay the moment 15 times.
Whether in a cosy pub or over a shared pizza. You can talk about your future together over a drink, where you can laugh, replay your special moment, and maybe start planning the wedding!
We would never recommend somewhere we don’t love ourselves – you literally can’t go wrong with any of our suggestions so far!

Build an Experience Around YOUR PROPOSAL
Give yourselves something to do either before (to distract the nerves) or after (to celebrate properly):
Your proposal is a moment, but the day can be something of an adventure! After popping the question, you’re going to have a lot of energy and adrenaline. Don’t just propose and… stop!
Build your whole day around memorable experiences, and turn it from “a proposal” into “that incredible trip where we got engaged.”
- Ace Target Sports – with everything from axe throwing to archery, this is a fun way to relieve the tension and definitely memorable!
- Wildlife tours – from otters to eagles, dolphins to deer… if you have had an early start for a sunrise proposal, then this is the perfect next step if you want to see the island, and its wildlife!
- Kayaking – just the two of you, moving through the landscape together, enjoying the sights and the peace and quiet.
- Seaflower Skye – intimate dining on the water, as the boat cruises around the Isle of Skye. The perfect, low effort, way to see the scenery!
These experiences give you space to create moments that feel completely your own, they can calm your nerves before the proposal, or help you to celebrate afterwards.
Don’t Overplan It!
Not everything should be planned. In fact, some of the most wonderful parts of your trip will be the ones you didn’t expect. Ask locals for recommendations. Speak to your photographers, and we can give our advice – we know lots of hidden gems!
Maybe it’s a quiet walk where you don’t say much, but everything feels different now you’re engaged.
Or perhaps you’ll most enjoy the views that take your breath away.
The moment you both realise: this place is special to us.
Skye has a way of creating those moments!

PLEASE Don’t Leave the Photos to Chance!
You can plan the perfect proposal, and still end up with blurry phone photos and a “we kind of missed it” story.
Don’t rely on passing strangers to capture the moment, or a slightly emotional selfie afterwards. Skye Proposals exists to record your moment!
We can help you:
- figure out the right location (not just the obvious one)
- plan it so it actually works smoothly
- capture it without making it feel staged or awkward
So you get to enjoy the moment as it happens, but still have it forever to look back on.
The proposal itself lasts seconds. A minute, maybe two. And then it’s gone – unless it’s captured on camera. Let us do that for you. We can make it exciting, make it fun. Make it feel like you.
And if you want help planning the moment itself (and capturing it without ruining the surprise), we’d absolutely love to help.
